One of the northernmost wine-growing regions in Germany wants to grow significantly. At present, seven hectares of vines are being planted - around 35,000 in twelve varieties. The cultivation trial will test which varieties are best able to cope with the northern German conditions such as late spring, early frost in autumn and sandy soils. So far, the winery, which was founded in 1999, cultivates almost five hectares around Rattey Castle. Photo: Jens Büttner/dpa-Zentralbild/ZB. - Rattey/Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania/Germany
