Foto de stock - Mountain gorilla, Gorilla beringei beringei, are one of the most endangered species in the world, scientifics estimate that their are only around 700 individuals living in the wild. They are endangered from habitat loss, poaching and war. The mountain gorilla of the picture is the silverback of the Bwenge family, is a 22 years old, male, called Bwenge. It’s the leader of the group. Bwenge group has 9 individuals, includ two juveniles, 4 years old are orphes, its mothers died on October 2011. Bwenge is the son of Titus, the gorilla king which appeared in the film of Gorillas in the mist. Titus was he leader of the group that Diane Fossey studied until she died. Bwenge spent his first 17 years in his birth group. Mountain gorillas live in groups of 2 to 40 individuals, the groups are led by a dominant male, the silverback, they can weigh 220kg and reach up to 1.9 m. The gorillas live in the forest, they usually are in the ground but they make nests in the trees to sleep in them. Mountain gorilla is an herbivore, they eat more than 100 different species of plants. One gorilla eats more than 30kg of plants a day. The world’s remaining mountain gorillas inhabits in two separated populations, 300 gorillas in the ´Bwindi Impenetrable National Park´ Uganda and 400 gorillas in the Virungas region in Uganda ´Mgahinga Gorilla National Park´, Rwanda ´Volcanoes National Park´ and Democratic Republica of Congo ´Virunga national Park´.
