This Saturn V rocket carrying astronauts, Eugene Cernan (Commander), Ronald Evans (Command Module pilot) and Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module pilot), lifted off from the Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, on 7 December 1972. Schmitt, the 12th man to walk on the moon, was also the first geologist to set foot on the lunar surface.
